Yoga and Mobility Support Offerings

Formidable Ferns - Yin Yoga
Ages: 9th Grade through Adult
Melt into the floor for a calming, excruciating 75 minutes in this mind-blowing yoga class. Yin Yoga will challenge and soothe you all at the same time. This class will bring attention and awareness to the forefront as we hold poses for longer periods of time and enjoy the complexity and mystery of our individual bodies.

Reconnect to your core through full body breathing and movement
Ages: anyone who can get up and down off the floor
Learn the yoga skills of breathing and movement to help you sit comfortably on the floor and gradually move from seated to standing without using your hands. We will feel the pathways to the spine from your feet and hands, which stabilize your core. We will explore moving from the hands and feet in crawls and squats. Please wear comfortable loose clothing and bring a yoga mat.

Learn to balance from the inside out
Ages: Teens to Adults
We will develop an understanding of the concepts of deep breathing, feeling all parts of your feet and hands, and feeling the pathways into your spine that provide stability and allow openness. All of these concepts will be explored in various one-legged yoga poses. Please wear comfortable loose clothing and bring a yoga mat.

Mobility Melts
Ages: 9th Grade through Adult
Have you ever felt like dance wasn’t for you? In this class we start movement from a foundation of mobility exercise to strengthen your muscles, floss your nerves and warm up your whole body. From there we’ll find sequences of movement and dance that feel good from wherever you’re starting from. Each week in the month will be a different part of the body from the legs, torso, arms, head, all the way to our feet. This will be a sequence class each month creating a new short choreography building week to week into different parts of the body. No dance experience needed!

Movement Laboratories and Workshops

Hip Hop/Urban Workshop – "Wild Side by Normani"
Ages: 9th Grade to Adult (Suggestive lyrics during the choreo part & potentially suggestive moves)
Two-hour crash course to learn the choreography to "Wild Side" by Normani. Open to all levels of hip hop/urban dance experience, although the choreo is intermediate. Come and challenge yourself, get moving, and have fun! Dancers are welcome to wear whatever they feel comfortable moving in. If dancers want to dress up for the vibe, think wider-leg/baggy pants, tight tops, and ball caps.

Hip Hop/Urban Workshop – "Rockstar by LISA”
Ages: 9th Grade to Adult (definitely not for younger kids)
This is a fun-filled two session crash course to learn choreography to "Rockstar" by LISA. Open to all levels of hip hop/urban dance experience, although the choreo is intermediate. Come and challenge yourself, get moving, and have a great time! Dancers are welcome to wear whatever they feel comfortable moving in. If dancers want to dress up for the vibe, think wider-leg/baggy pants, tight tops, and ball caps.

Floor Play
Ages: 11th Grade to Adult
Floor play is a choreography class for those who want to extend their knowledge of wiggling, slinking, and flipping across the floor. How do we create fun shapes and tension when using the floor as a prop? This class leans more into sensual movement while also having a taste of acrobatics. Knee pads needed! It is a heels optional class, but it is recommended to wear lots of foot covering (thick socks) or bring your favorite Pleaser (platform) Heels to class. This is an all-levels class, but some dance/movement experience is recommended.

Daily Fusion
Ages: 9th Grade to Adult
Class Description: An interpretive fusion class where we move through the rhythms of your daily life and explore what dance patterns can come from those points. How do you start from your daily reach to a cabinet and make that movement more? In this class we explore pathways fusing a variety of dance styles with the foundations of movement that you already know in your body.

Sprouts Movement Fun
Ages: 3-6 year olds
Children ages 3-6 will have the opportunity to develop coordination and cooperation in this Preschool Movement Class. The activities will build flexibility and spatial awareness and develop gross motor skills through play and games. The class will be introduced to various styles and music from different parts of the world. Skill building will including
Gain and Increase coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and spatial awareness Rhythm making and timing
Practice using voices for singing & bodies for dancing

Weeping Willows - Open Level Ballet for Teen and Adults
Ages: 9th Grade and up - with little or no dance experience!
This class will be an open level ballet class that will focus on technique to support you in growing in grace and elegance. We will take a deep dive into cultivating our basic technique and developing our stamina as class progresses in a sequential fashion to grow your skills naturally. This class will include stretching and strengthening as well as embodiment work to grow your artistry as a dancer. The art and discipline of ballet technique combine with healthy somatic awareness of how our own bodies meet the needs of this challenging form.

Sparkling Sparrows – Beginning Level Ballet for Adults!
Ages: 18+ - with little or no dance experience - others able to join with instructor permission
If you have ever wanted to learn the basics of ballet in a safe, supportive environment, then this class is for you!This class offers beginning level technique to support you as you learn the building blocks and essential vocabulary of this rewarding form. Together, we will take our first steps into planting the seeds of the fundamentals of ballet as we progress through class in a sequential fashion to grow your skills naturally. This class will include stretching and strengthening as well as embodiment work to grow your artistry as a dancer. The art and discipline of ballet technique combine with healthy somatic awareness of how our own bodies meet the needs of this challenging form. This class is joyful, fun, and just challenging enough for those adventurous enough to join us!

Mossy Oaks/Wildflower Combined – Intermediate/Advanced Ballet Technique for Teens and Adults
Ages: 16+ with 3 or more years of dance experience
This class will include intermediate and advanced level ballet technique which will include more complex combinations at the barre and in the center. Focus will be on building community, grace, and stamina as we practice together every week. This class will include stretching and strengthening as well as embodiment work to grow your artistry as a dancer. The art and discipline of ballet technique combine with healthy somatic awareness of how our own bodies meet the needs of this challenging form.

Silver Birches - Ballet for 55+
Ages: Intended for those 55 years and older
This class will provide an elegant, holistic movement guide to support our body-mind awareness using gentle ballet technique. We will progress through class using a ballet-focused healing approach to embrace our natural well-being. Together we will access the wonderful tools that our bodies carry and tap into our innate body wisdom resources to grow our alignment, balance, and strength. We will reap the benefits of this natural intelligence through the nurturing process of structured and improvisational movement to enhance longevity, flexibility, and well-being. Come dance with us to find the simple joy of moving together with care!

Roots and Leaves – Very Basic Intro Contemporary/Ballet
Ages: Intended for those 55+ and older
The dance and movement concepts of a Contemporary/Ballet Class is a beautiful, kinder, gentle, body awareness flow into the nature of movement. This is important as each individual can access what feels right, good, and relative to them in their mind - body connection. We are all sensory and expressive marvelous human beings. By means of the Contemporary/Ballet concepts, we can creatively explore our own body's mobility, balance, strength, alignment, releasing our own body's inner wisdom and powerful archives that will enrich our experience of dancing, moving together, making it feel right for you and as a class as a whole. Dance and movement enhance our joy, confidence, and embrace harmony. Come and enjoy this time for you. No previous dance experience needed!

NOTCracker Preparation!
Ages: 9th Grade to Adult – must have at least 2 years of dance experience or instructor permission to join – Adults strongly encouraged to join!
We are so excited to be kicking off our fourth annual “NOTCracker” production this Fall! We will learn favorite dances from our BWMC repertoire and add a few new ones! Our final performance will be on December 9th at 7pm at The Depot and will include our company dances as well as some other fun surprises. This is always a charming way to start off the holiday season. Hope you can join us!
