Yoga and Mobility Support Offerings

Formidable Ferns - Yin Yoga
Ages: 9th Grade through Adult
Melt into the floor for a calming, excruciating 75 minutes in this mind-blowing yoga class. Yin Yoga will challenge and soothe you all at the same time. This class will bring attention and awareness to the forefront as we hold poses for longer periods of time and enjoy the complexity and mystery of our individual bodies.

Dancing to the Music of your Breath
Ages: 9th Grade to Adult
As we dance to the music of our breath, each slow-flowing dance will guide us into a yoga pose.

Learn to balance from the inside out
Ages: Teens to Adults
We will develop an understanding of the concepts of deep breathing, feeling all parts of your feet and hands, and feeling the pathways into your spine that provide stability and allow openness. All of these concepts will be explored in various one-legged yoga poses. Please wear comfortable loose clothing and bring a yoga mat.

Moving to the Heart of the Matter
Ages: 18+
This class will use movement, music, and some writing to awaken the joy, connection, and healing power of spirit within. After warming up and strengthening the brain and body with the BrainDance, we will nurture ourselves by using ideas that springboard us into self-reflection and creative work. Come move and learn in a safe space where community can form and blossom. All levels and abilities welcome. No experience necessary.
JUDITH NELSON is a professional dance artist and educator of many years, as well as a certified holistic life coach. Originally from Northfield, she grew up dancing, and later teaching, at the Northfield Arts Guild. She is happy for the opportunity to give back.

Sprouts Movement Fun
Ages: 3-6 year olds
Children ages 3-6 will have the opportunity to develop coordination and cooperation in this Preschool Movement Class. The activities will build flexibility and spatial awareness and develop gross motor skills through play and games. The class will be introduced to various styles and music from different parts of the world. Skill building will including
Gain and Increase coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and spatial awareness Rhythm making and timing
Practice using voices for singing & bodies for dancing
Develop listening skills

Weeping Willows - Open Level Ballet for Teens
Ages: 9th Grade and up - with little or no dance experience!
This class will be an open level ballet class that will focus on technique to support you in growing in grace and elegance. We will take a deep dive into cultivating our basic technique and developing our stamina as class progresses in a sequential fashion to grow your skills naturally. This class will include stretching and strengthening as well as embodiment work to grow your artistry as a dancer. The art and discipline of ballet technique combine with healthy somatic awareness of how our own bodies meet the needs of this challenging form.

Sparkling Sparrows – Beginning Level Ballet for Adults!
Ages: 18+ - with little or no dance experience - others able to join with instructor permission
If you have ever wanted to learn the basics of ballet in a safe, supportive environment, then this class is for you!This class offers beginning level technique to support you as you learn the building blocks and essential vocabulary of this rewarding form. Together, we will take our first steps into planting the seeds of the fundamentals of ballet as we progress through class in a sequential fashion to grow your skills naturally. This class will include stretching and strengthening as well as embodiment work to grow your artistry as a dancer. The art and discipline of ballet technique combine with healthy somatic awareness of how our own bodies meet the needs of this challenging form. This class is joyful, fun, and just challenging enough for those adventurous enough to join us!

Mossy Oaks/Wildflower Combined – Intermediate/Advanced Ballet Technique for Teens and Adults
Ages: 16+ with 3 or more years of dance experience
This class will include intermediate and advanced level ballet technique which will include more complex combinations at the barre and in the center. Focus will be on building community, grace, and stamina as we practice together every week. This class will include stretching and strengthening as well as embodiment work to grow your artistry as a dancer. The art and discipline of ballet technique combine with healthy somatic awareness of how our own bodies meet the needs of this challenging form.

Silver Birches - Ballet for 55+
Ages: Intended for those 55 years and older
This class will provide an elegant, holistic movement guide to support our body-mind awareness using gentle ballet technique. We will progress through class using a ballet-focused healing approach to embrace our natural well-being. Together we will access the wonderful tools that our bodies carry and tap into our innate body wisdom resources to grow our alignment, balance, and strength. We will reap the benefits of this natural intelligence through the nurturing process of structured and improvisational movement to enhance longevity, flexibility, and well-being. Come dance with us to find the simple joy of moving together with care!

Roots and Leaves – Very Basic Intro Contemporary/Ballet
Ages: Intended for adults and those 55+ and older
The dance and movement concepts of a Contemporary/Ballet Class is a beautiful, kinder, gentle, body awareness flow into the nature of movement. This is important as each individual can access what feels right, good, and relative to them in their mind - body connection. We are all sensory and expressive marvelous human beings. By means of the Contemporary/Ballet concepts, we can creatively explore our own body's mobility, balance, strength, alignment, releasing our own body's inner wisdom and powerful archives that will enrich our experience of dancing, moving together, making it feel right for you and as a class as a whole. Dance and movement enhance our joy, confidence, and embrace harmony. Come and enjoy this time for you. No previous dance experience needed!
